Asian Inspired Chicken Nachos

If you’re craving something crispy, saucy, and totally addictive, these Asian-Inspired Chicken Nachos are the move. Imagine crunchy fried wonton chips loaded with juicy bits of orange chicken, creamy avocado, crisp cabbage, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds — all the best flavors and textures in one bite. It’s my go-to crowd-pleaser when I want something fun, easy, and a little different from classic nachos.

The base of this recipe is super simple: fried wonton skins. They puff up perfectly golden and crunchy, making the best chip swap ever. I just cut wonton wrappers into triangles, fry them until crisp, and let them cool before piling on toppings. You can also bake or air fry them if you want a lighter version, but let’s be honest — that deep-fried crunch hits differently.

For the protein, I use frozen orange chicken (the kind you just heat up in the oven or air fryer) and then chop it into bite-sized pieces. I have used InnovAsian’s orange chicken and it comes with a good amount of sauce so I just drizzle the extra sauce all over. It’s sweet, tangy, and sticky — the perfect contrast to the salty wonton chips. You can totally swap it out for teriyaki chicken, grilled shrimp, crispy tofu, or even bulgogi beef if you want to mix things up. The best part is that it’s completely flexible, so you can make it fit whatever’s in your fridge.

The toppings pull everything together. I love adding thinly shredded cabbage for crunch, sliced avocado for creaminess, chopped green onions for brightness, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for that finishing touch. If you want to level it up even more, drizzle a little spicy mayo, sriracha, or sweet chili sauce on top. It gives that perfect blend of heat and umami that makes this dish impossible to stop eating.

This recipe is also made for sharing. Whether it’s game day, a dinner party, or just a Friday night movie snack, these nachos disappear fast. It’s one of those dishes you can set in the middle of the table and watch everyone gather around, crunching, chatting, and going back for seconds. It looks impressive, but it’s secretly so easy to make — especially with frozen orange chicken as the shortcut hero.

So next time you’re craving something bold and crispy, skip the usual chips and cheese. These Asian-Inspired Chicken Nachos with Fried Wonton Chips are crunchy, flavorful, and guaranteed to steal the show. It’s the perfect recipe when you want something that feels restaurant-worthy but takes less than 30 minutes to pull together. Once you try it, regular nachos will never be the same.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack 1 wonton skins

  • neutral frying oil (vegetables, canola, etc.)

  • salt to taste (wonton chips seasoning)

  • 1 box 1 InnovAsian orange chicken

  • 1 1 avocado

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 thinly shredded purple cabbage

  • 1 tbsp 1 thinly shredded carrots

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 sliced green onions

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 chopped cilantro

  • 1/3 cup 1/3 shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 2 serrano peppers

  • 1 tsp 1 sesame seeds

  • Spicy Mayo
  • 3 tbsp 3 kewpie mayo

  • 2 tbsp 2 sriracha

  • Optional
  • furikake

  • sliced red onions

Directions

  • Fry the Wonton Chips
Cut the wonton wrappers into triangles. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat (around 350°F). Fry a few pieces at a time for 15–20 seconds per side, until golden and crisp. Remove and place on a paper towel or wire rack. Sprinkle lightly with salt while warm. (Air Fryer Option: Brush or spray with oil, air fry at 375°F for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway.)
  • Prepare the Orange Chicken
Cook your frozen orange chicken according to package directions (air fryer or oven both work great). Once cooked, chop the chicken into small bite-sized pieces. Warm the orange sauce in microwave or in a pan and toss to coat evenly. Set aside 1/3 of the warm orange chicken sauce to pour over the nachos later.
  • Assemble the Nachos
Arrange the fried wonton chips on a large serving platter or baking sheet. Evenly layer on the chopped orange chicken, shredded cheese, shredded cabbage, diced avocado, sliced Serrano peppers, and sliced green onions.
  • Add the Finishing Touches
Drizzle with spicy mayo (mix mayo and sriracha) and the left over warm orange chicken sauce (this will melt the cheese). Finish with toasted sesame seeds and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro if desired. Serve immediately while the wonton chips are crispy.
