Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken and Garlic Fried Rice

If you’re craving something crispy, garlicky, and wildly satisfying, this Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken and Garlic Fried Rice combo is about to become your new go-to meal. Think perfectly golden chicken thighs coated in a sticky, buttery honey garlic sauce, served on top of fragrant fried rice loaded with toasted garlic and green onions. It’s that comforting restaurant-quality flavor you love but made easy right at home in under 30 minutes.

The best part? Everything gets crispy and flavorful without deep frying. The air fryer gives the chicken that crunchy skin while keeping the meat juicy and tender. Tossed in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze, every bite is packed with flavor. The garlic fried rice ties it all together with a hit of sesame oil and that irresistible garlicky aroma that fills your kitchen.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still make this recipe in the oven. Just bake the chicken at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through for an even crisp. For extra crunch, broil it for the last few minutes until the skin bubbles and turns golden. Don’t skip the cornstarch coating—it’s the secret to that perfect crisp.

Swap the Sauce!

You can also have fun with the sauce! Try swapping the honey garlic glaze for spicy gochujang, sweet chili, or teriyaki if you want to change up the vibe. For a lighter version, drizzle the chicken with a mix of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a touch of brown sugar. You can even toss the crispy chicken on top of noodles or a salad instead of rice for an easy variation.

On a low-carb diet? No problem!

When it comes to the garlic fried rice, leftover rice works best since it fries up beautifully without getting mushy. Feel free to use brown rice, jasmine rice, or even cauliflower rice if you’re going for a low-carb option. The fried garlic chips on top are totally optional but highly recommended—they add a crunchy bite that takes everything over the top.

This Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken with Garlic Fried Rice is the ultimate comfort food—sweet, savory, crispy, and garlicky in all the best ways. It’s the kind of meal that feels special but is easy enough for a weeknight dinner. Serve it hot, drizzle on that extra honey garlic sauce, and get ready for your new favorite crispy chicken recipe.

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 garlic salt

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 pepper

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 corn starch

  • avocado oil spray

  • Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 4 tbsp 4 unsalted butter

  • 1 1 head of garlic

  • 4 tbsp 4 soy sauce

  • 4 tbsp 4 honey

  • 2 2 water (adjust as needed)

  • Garlic Fried Rice
  • 2 cups 2 cooked white rice (day old recommended)

  • 1 1 head of garlic

  • 4 tbsp 4 neutral oil

  • 1/3 cup 1/3 sliced green onions

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 chicken boullion

  • 2 tbsp 2 soy sauce seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 white pepper

  • 1 tsp 1 sesame oil

Directions

  • Prepare the Chicken
Pat chicken thighs dry and remove the bone from the meat and skin with a pairing knife. In a bowl, whisk egg whites, oyster sauce, garlic salt, and pepper, then toss in chicken until coated. Add cornstarch to another plate and dredge the chicken so it’s evenly coated.
  • Air Fry the Chicken
Preheat air fryer to 380°F (190°C). Spray basket with oil, place chicken skin-side down, and air fry for
minutes. Flip, spray again, and cook for another 6–8 minutes until golden and crispy. Set aside.
  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce
Melt butter in a saucepan, sauté minced garlic until fragrant, then stir in soy sauce, honey, and water.
Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened, then toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until coated.
  • Make the Garlic Fried Rice
Heat oil on a pan and fry minced garlic until golden and remove from oil. Add green onions to garlic
infused oil and add rice, breaking up clumps. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, chicken bouillon, and white
pepper, cooking until hot and fragrant.
  • Serve
Plate the garlic fried rice, top with honey garlic crispy chicken, and drizzle extra sauce on top. Garnish with
    green onions if desired.
